Structural systems tend to fail at connection points between components. That is why Pitzer Consulting spent considerable time trying to establish the behavior of the leg interconnection joints. The connections between the leg components were solid stock, but they were much smaller in diameter than the legs themselves – and therefore could be subject to much higher stresses and strains. After a quick set of analyses, we could be confident that the system wouldn’t fail here..
